Project McFly

Project McFly is the newest hip hop group within the South Bay area. It is a blend of hip hop, R&B and Funk. They strive to represent the vast cultures within the South Bay area.

D.J. INGWELL

Described as the Deejay's DJ, Vincent Vinzon aka DJ Ingwell comes highly recommended in the Hollywood Nightlife scene. Vincent started Dee jaying at a very young age. Learning to spin using vinyl records, he has not been swayed by technology. Vincent knows that the quality of sound from electronic files are never as good as the old school vinyls. It does not mean that he has shunned out computers. Vincent uses a blended approach to his music, splicing old school mixing techniques to the beat and rhythm of his Mac Book.

Vincent has been on the go and shows no stopping. He plays several clubs nightly throughout the Southern California area. He is a fan of 80s rap and melodic sounds of the early stages of R&B. Vincent gives a new edge to Project McFly that makes it truly its own.

CA$EM

Edward Casem Valera also known as Casem derived from his middle name.

Casem began listening to hip hop when he lived in the Philippines. He was born in the South Bay in Torrance, California. His mother sent him home to live with his dad from the age of five to eleven years old. It was in the Philippines when he first started listening to a tape of Andrew E. that he found in his older cousins radio. Before that he listened to various types of music ( Michael Bolton, Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson, Air Supply) only because it was what his dad listened to. It was something about the Andrew E. tape that kept him listening and quickly becoming a fan. It was probably because it had a catchy beat and more fun in the lyrics compared to what he had been listening to. When I finally moved back to Los Angeles from PI, he was exposed to more and more hip hop. He discovered radio stations (power 106 and 92.3 the beat) and also MTV and BET. That was more exposure to the music than what he have been getting in PI. He then started becoming a fan of Da Brat, Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Biggie, Jay Z, The Twins, Ice Cube, Eazy E., Bone Thugs n Harmony, Will Smith, Black Eyed Peas, LL Cool J, DMX, The Lox, Puff Daddy, Cash Money Millionaires to name a few.

High School was probably the turning point for his definite love for the music. This was the time when he met Jon and Vince also known as J-sCO and Ingwell. The three started a little DJ crew called Party Boys Xpress. They deejayed at house parties. Ingwell was the main DJ, but they did our part helping carry the record crates, and throwing in a couple of songs once in awhile. They ran with that crew until after college. Vince had always made beats, and me the rest of the guys usually messed around and free styled to them, nothing too serious, although the beats were really good and could have been sold to other artist, but they were all just doing it for fun.

About two years ago, the boys started to take the music more seriously. Around Jon's 21st birthday, they decided to throw an event, and they also decided to put on a show using Vinces beats. They did a few shows after that working with Moonshinerz. They have performed at clubs and bars in Hollywood, Hermosa Long Beach, and Downtown LA. (Forbidden City, Viper Room, El Rey Theater, Kilkennys, Kegans, Blue Monkey, Arena, Boardners, Crash Mansion, to name a few) Along the way they met another artist, Jubien, and a singer/rapper Todd, who were previously working together. They were also based from the South Bay. Jubien constantly asked Vince for beats to use for his project, then we decided to just fuse our two acts together to form Project McFly.

Project McFly like many groups, we didn't know what to call ourselves. They agreed that the name Party Boys Xpress would catch on later down the line. So they came up with the name Project McFly. A lot of people probably think of Marty McFly from Back to the Future. In a sense, I think McFly does bring back the flavor of music from the past. We sample beats from old songs and turn them into a sound that people of our generation would enjoy. Project McFly is not like a band, where the whole group wouldn't be able to function if one was missing. We are a collective group of soloist that come together to form the group. In a way, we're we still doing our own thing.

Currently, they are working on an album due to release this Summer. It has a mix of songs that any hip hop fan could enjoy. It will have a variety of songs; from jiggy, R&B and underground music. Project McFly mixed up the album with tracks that you can play at a club, in your car, working out, and making love. So right now, Casem has been busy writing and trying to think of ideas and concepts to use for some of the songs they are going to include in the album. Like each of the members of Project Mcfly, they all plan to have their individual projects later down the line, but Project McFly will always be the foundation.
